Newmarket Racecourse
Apart from being home to dozens of stables, stud farms and miles of gallops, Newmarket has two racecourses.
The Rowley mile course stages both the 1000 & 2000 Guineas at the start of the season as well as plenty of important late season races, including the quality-stuffed Champions' Day in October.
During high summer the focus moves no more than a couple of miles down the road to the July course, which hosts the courses popular three-day July Meeting.
Whilst the July Course has a rather informal, summery feel which is underlined by its sell-out Friday evening meetings, the Rowley Mile course feels more like its more serious older brother.
There is not an over-abundance of accommodation in Newmarket itself (although there are one or two great hotels) but with Cambridge nearby, there is no excuse for not enjoying all that Newmarket has to offer.
