Bangor Racecourse
There are countless tales of jockeys, trainers and punters getting lost on the way to Bangor-On-Dee, instead mistaking it for the Bangor in Gwynedd some miles to the west. This particularly picturesque racecourse is situated in Bryn Y Pys estate some 15 miles south of Chester, near Wrexham.
A solely national hunt course Bangor is a turning track with little in the way of straights, so favouring the speedier type of horse and racing takes place virtually throughout the year (just January and June just missed out in 2004).
