Musselburgh Racecourse
Formerly called Edinburgh, Musselburgh is actually six miles away from Scotland's capital.
It cannot boast a classy set of fixtures - although it does stage a couple of listed races during the flat season - but it does have a busy dual-purpose year and because of the nature of the soil it is unusually resistant to frost.
