Newbury Racecourse
Newbury is one of those courses with both top-class flat and jumps action. It is a big, galloping course and with its close proximity to the large Lambourn training area it rarely fails to attract the best horses under both codes.
The main flat race of the year at Newbury is the Group One Lockinge Stakes in May but it also plays host to decent racing throughout the summer season, including classic trials, strong maidens, group races and competitive handicaps.
The story is much the same during the winter. The Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup in November is the most prestigious handicap chase of the season and the course also plays host to the hurdle equivalent - the Tote Gold Trophy in February.
