Kempton Park Racecourse
Recently refurbished Kempton Park is a fine racecourse and especially handy for anyone living in or around London. The M25 is close by and the course's train station is virtually part of the course.
Kempton is a dual-purpose course with good facilities for all and provides good viewing. The course has a number of flat meetings, notably at the start of the turf season in April, and later in the season the September Stakes is always a good group event. Additionally most Wednesdays during the summer have popular evening meetings.
Kempton also has a strong jumps programme with the mid-season championship King George VI Chase part of a formidable Christmas Festival (be warned: leave very early for the King George if travelling by car, because you may be queuing forever to get into the car parks). The Sunbury course also stages the Racing Post Chase, which is the last big race prior to the Cheltenham Festival.
