Lingfield Racecourse
Since the advent of its Polytrack all-weather surface the fortunes of lovely, leafy Lingfield have taken a distinct turn for the better. Much kinder for horses and jockeys than its predecessor, the introduction of the new surface has seen the general quality level shoot up, with well-bred horses running at most meetings. Its Winter Derby meeting in March continues to grow, and Lingfield provides a superb alternative to turf racing in the summer and jump racing in the winter.
Lingfield has a limited jumps programme but the four meetings for 2004 are probably as good as you will find anywhere away from the big courses.
