Online Gambling Glossaries - What are They Good For?

The online gambling industry has become more sophisticated as the software technology becomes more advanced.  You can play in an online casino and feel the exact excitement and thrills you get when you play in a land casino.  Of course, you’re playing in the comfort and privacy of your home, so it is that much more enjoyable.  There are so many choices of games and so many things to experience online that you are really limiting your opportunities for fun if you are not receptive to new activities.

One of the main reasons that you might feel this way is that you are not familiar with the terminology of the game.  You don’t want to appear ignorant, but that is precisely the way you might feel if you are unfamiliar with the meaning of the terms used at the sites of the different games.  As the games you play become more advanced, the chances are you would like to expand your casino experiences.  The best way to learn about the terminology applicable to the various online casino games is for you to refer to the online glossary of terms relevant to each particular table game.

Online Gambling Glossaries - From A to Z

The term “glossary” is described in Webster’s Dictionary as “a list of difficult terms with explanations”.  The online gambling glossary will familiarize you with the terms you need know in order to feel comfortable enough to participate in new casino game experiences.  If you are not familiar with the terminology of a particular game, you can neither play nor enjoy the game to its fullest.  Many of the casino games have somewhat secretive language associated with them.  For example, if you are at an online casino website and you’re participating in an interactive Texas Hold’em game with three other players, here are some of the terms and their explanations just from the “A” in the Poker glossary:

     •  Ace:  Refers too the highest and lowest valued card in the deck

     •  Ace High:  Refers to a hand with no pair cards whose highest valued card is an ace.

     •  Ace Out:  Refers to a play in which you are holding an Ace high hand, and you bluff the other players into thinking you have a higher valued hand, or you simply squeaked out a win over others with worthless hands.  You win the pot with an Ace high hand, so you have Aced out the others.

     •  Acey-deucey:  Refers to a hand in Texas Hold’em in which your first two cards drawn are A-2.

     •  Active Hand:  Refers to a hand that is still in contention for the pot of winnings.

     •  Advertise:  Refers to a bluff in an obvious manner, or to showing a bluff after winning the hand in order to set up the other players for manoeuvres later in the game.
