WPT Schedule Announced
Organizers of the 2009 World Poker Tour recently announced the schedule for the 8th annual event. The first leg of this year’s tournament, which includes 12 events in total, will kick off July 13th at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas.
European and Canadian fans are expressing disappointment with the tournament venues. As opposed to previous WPT editions, wherein events were held in popular world casinos like the Aviation Club in Paris France and the Falls View Casino & Resort in Niagara Falls, Canada, none of this year’s events will be held outside the continental U.S. Critics have dubbed the 2009 WPT the “American Poker Tour”.
The commencement of the WPT coincides with the elimination rounds of the World Series of Poker’s main event. Poker pros and fans will have to split their attention between the game’s two biggest events.
