New Survey Reveals Changes In EU Online Gambling Market
The online gambling market in Europe is likely to undergo a large change in the near future, as suggested by a new survey released by Gambling Compliance. This is the first official report into European cross-border gambling since 2006.
Currently there is not a lot of intra-governmental control when it comes to cross-border gambling, a fact that has led a number of EU leaders to meet to discuss how they can develop new reforms.
At issue is the lack of clarity on legal issues within the EU. 19 governments are currently looking into legislation for their own countries by holding a number of debates on the issue.
Industry experts suggest that one possible outcome of such a course of action will be that that different licensing regimes will spring up across the continent, yielding unlicensed websites blocked under the new systems. However, the report does mention that overall it is a good time for online gambling as there are now many more business opportunities in the industry.
