Frederic Brunet wins Chilipoker Deepstack Poker Open
The Frenchman Frederic Brunet has been crowned the champion of the Chilipoker Deepstack Poker Open. The event, which was held at the Ballsbridge Inn Hotel in Dublin, was a resounding success, and Brunet had to fight off competition from a large field of 464 other players to claim his prize.
The €550 main event, which had a 50,000 starting stack, attracted players from far and wide. Most of the players came from Belgium, Switzerland, and France, with the Irish contingent slightly underrepresented. Andy Black and Sandra Naujoks were among the pros to make an appearance, and former champion Dara O’Kearney was also there to try his luck. In the end he made the final table once again having won a prize every time he has entered the event.
Brunet ended up going into heads-up play with Roberto Salatiello from Italy. After a tense battle he ended up victorious, and took home the first prize of €50,800, while Salatiello had to settle for €34,000.
Third place went to the Belgian Gregory Puissant, who won €25,000 for his efforts. The Irishman in the mix was Thomas Nolan, who came in fourth place and won €18,000. The 2011 event will have a massive field of 1,500 players, and anyone who is interested can soon register online at Chilipoker.
