Dan Livingston triumphs at WSOP Horseshoe Chicago after winning seat in promotion

WSOP

Dan Livingston has become the WSOP Horseshoe Chicago champion after winning the main event. The player is only 22 years old, and this is by far the biggest win of his career. He is only a part-time poker player, and got through to the main event after winning a $5,200 buy-in promotion.

Livingston is more accustomed to entering events with much lower buy-ins. But the Horseshoe Casino was giving away four seats for the main event every day and he got lucky to win his place. 248 players entered the tournament, which was 12 percent up on last year’s entrants. For his efforts he got a huge pay check of $291,749.

Once he got to final table he saw that he had a good chance of actually winning the event. He then built up a huge stack of chips so when it got down to four players he didn’t take too long to beat them off. He then got into a heads-up fight against Tom Floros, another player to win his seat through a promotion, but saw him off to take the title.

His previous biggest win was $4,000 that he won in an online poker tournament. Now he has won his first WSOP Circuit event and the prestigious gold ring that goes with it. His next goal? To hit the WSOP tour next year and pick up a gold bracelet.
