Bingo winner could get in record books
One very lucky winner from the UK has just set a new record in the world on online bingo. The £18,000 jackpot he won was not the biggest win of all time, but it might well have been the quickest.
Darryl Howe, a 24-year-old from Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire, had just started to play at the William Hill Bingo site, where he had only opened an account 40 minutes earlier. After just 23 calls he couldn’t believe his luck when he realized he’d won a 15-number full house. It has since been confirmed that the odds of winning with so few calls are over 93 billion to one.
The Guinness Book of Records has been contacted to check whether it is a world record for the fastest full house of all time. Meanwhile, Jennie Prest from William Hill Bingo said that none of the staff had ever seen anything like it. “We believe it is a record,” she confirmed, adding that “we can't find examples of a quicker 90 ball game, but are interested in hearing from anyone who knows more.”
The winner himself was unaware of how rare such a win was. He said that he thought it was “just beginners luck,” adding that “I was totally gob smacked when William Hill told me how extraordinary the game was and the odds of that happening.”
